![]() ![]() Has anyone tried running Quickbooks desktop mac 2016 to mac osx Mojave? Quickbooks is forcing me to update to its latest quickbooks 2019 and it's quite expensive and I really want to upgrade to the latest mac osx mojave. 1 While Windows Server 2003 and Windows Vista were supported during QuickBooks 2016 launch, we have since dropped support and will no longer support issues with those. QuickBooks for Mac 2016 R6 or later- macOS X v10.14 (Mojave), 10.13 (High Sierra), Mac OS 10.11 (El Capitan), and Mac OS X v10.12 (Sierra). I need to install ifort non-commercial version on my 64 bit system with OS ubuntu 14.04. From the intel website i have the non-commercial tool but it doest not support Ubuntu. What I want: • Linux on an Intel iMac (Core Duo). What I have: • An empty PC (17' Intel iMac) with broken CD drive. ![]() It's model A1173. • This PC with Ubuntu 12.04 and an old Windows Vista partition. • a USB flash drive and an Ubuntu ISO. Problems: • No CD means the only boot drive I could use is USB. • There is no BIOS on Macs, so I can't set boot settings or even see if it detects my USB drive. When I start the machine and press Option, the first and only thing I see is an old corrupted Windows XP partition and not a single option or additional information. • So assuming blindly that the Mac hardware/firmware works normally, I don't have any Mac OS to use any of the tools that I found on different tutorials for building a bootable drive for Macs. • I can't find much software on Linux/Windows to substitute to those tools, for example among others converting an.iso file (Win/Linux) to.img (Mac I guess). Which makes me think that the scenario where someone like me has Mac hardware but no Mac OS is extremely rare. • So other than finding someone that has a Mac I have no solution. So I ask, what would you do? The only thing is it should not involve any money (I know Mac software is rarely free) which also excludes getting any Mac OS unless I can use a free macos.img for VM or restore the original Mac for free. Looks like you have all you will need already, you were just missing the following bits of information. • You should checkout a Ubuntu instructions for Intel Macs, so no need to worry about a BIOS your running EFI. And additionally the Ubuntu looks to be loaded with lots of resources that you might find helpful. • Since your iMac is an intel one, you can use a standard. However since your iMac is a Core Duo it will need a 32bit Ubuntu as noted on. If you have a Core2 Duo Mac (as oppossed to the Core Duo), it is capable of using the AMD64 (64bit) CD otherwise you have to use the standard version. The standard version meaning a 32bit version. • Pick and, the Mac documentation pages say going with the latest version should be a good move, yet pick which one works best on your iMac, this may require trial and error. • Follow the standard using the Ubuntu ISO you downloaded above. • Boot the iMac with the USB stick inserted, if the iMac does not boot into the Ubuntu installer you may need to reboot and hold down the 'option' key, and then selcted the USB stick to continue booting into the Ubuntu installer. If you have a recovery partition still you could reinstall the OS with no cd by Holding both the Command and R keys on the keyboard once rebooted when you hear the chime noise. Once OS X is back installed follow the guide below in the link. Digital video file conversion is a crucial component of many a filmmaker's workflow these days. Since footage can be taken from so many different cameras, using specific formats, they often have to be altered into something that their editing package will accept. But they're not the only ones who need to transform files to make their content compatible with a different system than the one they were originally meant for. Take Flash video for instance: it's well known that this format won't work on an iOS device because it's deemed to be too much of a drain on battery life. Most websites now offer alternatives, so it's not a major problem. But what do you do if someone sends you a Flash video that you'd like to enjoy on your iPad, for instance? This is where video converters come in. Transforming a video file is a complex process, which often leads to a degradation of the image - the trick is to limit this loss of quality by as much as possible. Technology's moved on in leaps and bounds since the early days and this is epitomised by the proliferation of such conversion programs online. Do a quick search for them on the Mac App Store and you'll be faced with too many to make a reliable decision on, which is why we've decided to test six of the most high-profile apps (be they available on the Mac App Store or elsewhere) and see which one is the best when it comes to ease of use, available options, speed of encoding and output quality. Those six apps are Apple's own Compressor, the venerable Squared5's MPEG Streamclip, HandBrake, Systemic's Smart Converter, Elgato's Turbo.264 HD and Wondershare's Video Converter. Feb 15, 2017 - The best video player apps support a wide variety of movie file formats, are easy to use, support 1080p and 4k video, are full-featured, are free. Test one: Ease of use Having many options is not always a good thing The programs we've tested that are available through the Mac App Store have the easiest interfaces. Surely a testament to Apple's design leadership? Although, interestingly enough, Apple's own Compressor is actually the most complex one - but that's because it also offers the most options. The two packages available as web downloads - MPEG Streamclip and HandBrake - are also feature-rich and, as a consequence, end up looking a little complicated to the uninitiated. But they both try hard to simplify the available options by offering presets (for HandBrake) and extensive menus (for MPEG Streamclip). Try as they might, they can't beat the simplicity of just dragging a file and clicking on 'Start'. ![]() ![]() There's actually more than one app designed with simplicity as its motto: Turbo.264 HD and Smart Converter take the crown here for a clean interface and easy options to choose from to select the right file format for your needs. Test two: Available options How easy is it for the user to tweak their app? Not surprisingly, the simplest programs are the ones who offer the fewest options. Take Smart- Converter for instance: aside from the row of icons at the bottom, you have no customisation features available to you. Video Converter looks simple, but you can modify each preset. You can also crop your footage, trim it and apply simple effects to your clip - although this may be that program's least-used feature as you'd most likely be applying effects with your video-editing package. Turbo.264 HD's option may appear limited, but select the Edit command and you'll be graced with numerous options, even embedding subtitles to your converted file (as long as they were present in the original). ![]() Super Video Enhancer is an easy video editor software, which enables you to enhance your video quality greatly. But third-party tools fill the gap and provide access to drives formatted with Apple’s HFS+ file system on Windows. This also allows you to. If you know you’re going to use a drive on both Mac and Windows, you should use the exFAT file system, which is compatible with both. But if you didn’t foresee that, you may have formatted your drive with Apple’s HFS Plus, which Windows can’t read by default. These steps for fixing an external hard drive not recognized on windows and Mac are suitable for external hard drives of all capacities and manufacturers. However, if still the issue is not resolved, you can avail professional help. Formatted hard drive and virus attacked. If you go to recover data from external hard drive on Mac. In fact, some manufacturers sell “Mac” drives pre-formatted with this Mac-only file system. Don’t Format the Drive! (Yet) When you connect a Mac-formatted drive to Windows, you’ll be informed that “you need to format the disk in drive X: before you can use it.” Don’t click the “Format disk” button or Windows will erase the contents of the drive–click “Cancel”! This message appears because Windows doesn’t understand Apple’s HFS+ file system. That’s fine, because other applications do. Just don’t format the drive until you get the important files off the drive. Of course, if the drive doesn’t have any important files on it, you can go ahead and format it. But be absolutely sure there’s nothing you need before you do. Option One: HFSExplorer Is Free and Basic RELATED: If you only need to get a couple files off the drive, we recommend. It’s the only completely free way to access a Mac-formatted drive. It does require, however, so you’ll have to. Then, install HFSExplorer like you would any other Windows program. ![]() HFSExplorer isn’t fancy, though, and doesn’t have a lot of features. You can’t use it to write to Mac-formatted drives, and it doesn’t install a file system driver that integrates into File Explorer. But you can open HFSExplorer, read a Mac-formatted drive, and copy the files to your Windows PC without paying a dime. It can also mount Mac.dmg disk images to get at the files inside them. This application’s read-only nature isn’t necessarily a bad thing. It ensures that no bug in the third-party driver can damage your Mac-formatted drive and the files on it. You can set read-only mode in other applications, too–but, if you’re not going to use their write support, there’s less reason to pay for them. To use HFSExplorer, connect your Mac-formatted drive to your Windows PC and launch HFSExplorer. Click the “File” menu and select “Load File System From Device.” It will automatically locate the connected drive, and you can load it. You’ll see the contents of the HFS+ drive in the graphical window. Just select the files or folders you want, click “Extract,” and choose a folder. They’ll be copied to the location you choose on your PC. Option Two: Paragon HFS+ is $20, But Offers Write Access and Better Integration Paragon’s is a bit fancier, but it’ll cost you. This tool installs a file system driver that allows you to access a Mac-formatted drive like any other drive in File Explorer, or any other Windows application with an open or save dialog. It boasts improved speed, and we wouldn’t be surprised if it were faster than HFSExplorer. And, unlike HFSExplorer, it offers full read/write access to Mac-formatted drives, so you can write to them from within Windows. Just install it, and Mac drives will show up like any other drive. If you need to work with Mac-formatted drives on a regular basis and you want the operating system integration, speed, and write access, Paragon HFS+ is a great choice and will be worth it for you. But, if you just need to get some files off a Mac-formatted drive occasionally, this is overkill and you can save $20 by sticking with HFSExplorer. Paragon does offer a 10-day free trial of HFS+ for Windows, so you can give it a try and see if it works for you. And, if you just need to get files off of a Mac-formatted drive once, you can just use the trial and be done with the application by the time it expires. Option Three: Mediafour MacDrive Costs $50 to $70, But Includes More Features Mediafour’s is similar to Paragon’s HFS+ for Windows, but with more features and polish. It’s noticeably more expensive than Paragon HFS+ too, at $50 for the Standard version and $70 for the Pro version. For most people, this software won’t really be worth it. But it offers a few unique features, like support for Mac-formatted RAID disks. It also offers a graphical interface with support for verifying, repairing, and formatting Mac-formatted drives. Paragon’s HFS+ gets out of your way and doesn’t provide a graphical interface–it just enables access to HFS+ drives in File Explorer and other applications. If you need all these tools, go for it–this is the most full-featured solution for working with Mac-formatted drives on Windows. ![]() I am using Win10. Apparently some ransomware hacking attacks can corrupt any attached USB etc drives, so I wish to remove the My Passport backup drive when not actively in use. When I click the Eject My Passport, I get an error message “Windows is unable to stop the device Close any programs using this device ” As far as I knew, no relevant programmes were being run. I went to Task Manager and ended the 3 WD tasks listed. After this when trying to do the eject, I still get the same error message. How do I safely remove the USB My Passport after a backup? I have several WD external drives for my Mac. I have now purchased two 1TB USB 3.0 My Passport SE drives, and am having the same problem with both of them. After they have been connected for a while, I cannot eject them normally. I must do a “Force Eject”. I am using password protection for both of them. Since you have Windows 10 I suggest asking this, eject usb drive in windows 10, in the search box. You will get several results, such as this one. Eject USB drive in Windows 10 Save and close all open files from the USB flash drive. ![]() Save the file or files you are working on in your USB flash drive, and then close all open files in your flash drive. Wait a minute or two for your computer to finish writing data on your flash drive. Some flash drives have light indicators. 3 Ways to Remove a Flash Drive from a Windows 10 Computer. I´ve seen this on many sites, and none of the answers really helped me. So I kept trying. What I did: In the CONTROL PANEL go to HARDWARE AND SOUNDS then go to DEVICE MANAGEMENT. Look for the DISK DEVICES. UNINSTALL the device you are unable to “safely remove”. I´ve restarted the computer but I do not think it is necessary. You are done. I´ve plugged and ejected the drive several times. Tested it with other drive I had the same problem but was a Seagate as well. Worked fine all the times. I am using Windows 7, but it should work to other versions as well. I´ll post it on the other sites so people can easily find this. Hope it helps more people. Howdy my name is Colby - I am using windows 10, I tried updating all my drivers, checking for new drivers for this device - there were no new drivers. So I created a system Restore point before I tried Newtonu’s method - I would encourage all users who try this method to do so just in-case. Everyone’s system is different and it may have a different effect on your system than mine, better safe then sorry - yata yata yata So I uninstalled the device and Success! I was able to safely remove the device on the first try. Restarting the computer is a good idea, I didn’t before I disconnected the device but I did afterward just to be safe. Thanks a bunch to Newtonu! I made an account on here to specifically THANK YOU for your advice. I’ve tried everything imaginable and searched for hours on end to try to safely eject my easystore without having to restart my laptop! I eventually gave up and didn’t want to risk erasing everything on my drive again (yes AGAIN), but I felt a whim today to look for solutions and saw your comment. THANK YOU SO MUCH. I’ve tested it a few times myself to make sure nothing was damaged and everything is perfectly fine. Thank you again so much!!! Powered by, best viewed with JavaScript enabled. A couple days ago i've been upgraded OS to sierra. Tell you next story with hope one of your answer will be helpful because for me its very important question right now. Before upgrade i used El Capitan and Windows 7 bootcamp. Now, after upgrade, on Bootcamp menu i see two very magical options: The most interesting thing is my MacBook Pro (15-inch, Mid 2010) and there are no options to instal Windows 7 or 8.1, just 10 or later? Apple says that MB older than 2012 does not support Windows 10. My MBP is even older. Download a macOS installer, such as macOS Mojave or macOS High Sierra. To download macOS Mojave or High Sierra for this purpose, download from a Mac that is using macOS Sierra 10.12.5 or later, or El Capitan 10.11.6. So, why i can't chose instal Windows which my notebook supports? I use Windows for my own purposes to do some work and its very important for me how long it takes to instal Windows properly by using BootCamp. The second thing happened after upgrade OS my MATSHITA DVD-R UJ-898 stop burning CD's and DVD's. Seems like there some drivers problems (The burn failed because of medium write error). I tried to burn most expensive DVD's i found in my city and its still doest work. My question is very simple. Is there any way to instal Windows 10 or Windows 8 on Sierra by using Bootcamp if i have no option to choose to do it through the USB Flash. MacBook Pro (15-inch, Mid 2010) Thank you very much. Click to expand. It's true that boot camp on Sierra only supports Windows 10. I'd been trying so hard all weekend to get Windows 7 installed via a USB flash drive but nothing seemed to be working. However, I finally found the solution and it's all working now! I have a mid-2010 13' MBP. You can definitely install Windows 7 if you're using El Capitan. ![]() Sierra won't work. For me, what I did was download the free trial of Daemon Tools. Here's a step by step of what I did: 1. Downloaded the.iso of Windows 7 via HeiDoc.net's tool. Downloaded the Windows USB/DVD Download Tool directly from Microsoft. Used the USB/DVD Download Tool to make a bootable USB flash drive of the Windows 7.iso file. Transferred the.iso file of Windows 7 to my MBP and put it on the desktop. Downloaded the free trial of Daemon Tools for Mac. Mounted the.iso file using Daemon Tools. ![]() Ran Boot Camp (the Mac thought the mounted.iso was a disk rather than an.iso file), partitioned hard drive, etc. When my MBP restarted, I inserted the USB bootable flash drive of Windows 7 I'd made on my PC and immediately hit the 'C' key upon startup chime. This tells the Mac to boot via USB. So basically, I tricked Boot Camp into thinking the raw.iso file was a DVD, and then 'continued' installation on the USB flash drive when the MBP restarted to continue installing Windows with, what it thought, was a DVD install disk. I'd searched for 3 days on how to do this and I finally got the answer I needed. Albeit, it's for El Cap and lower basically, which is unfortunate. I wonder if booting directly from USB using the 'C' key on startup would allow a person to install Windows without boot camp, but no idea. The 2010 MBPs only support up to Windows 8.1, right? Why a flash drive? A bootable external or internal hard drive works well for desktop Macs but presents a cumbersome problem for notebook Macs. A flash drive is a simple, inexpensive, and portable emergency boot device that can handle OS X or the macOS. Heck, it can even have both operating systems installed, letting you use the emergency USB flash drive to boot any of the Mac's you may have. Even if you don’t use a notebook, you may want to have a bootable USB flash drive on hand. What You Will Need. • Insert the USB flash drive into your Mac’s USB port. • Launch Disk Utility, located at /Applications/Utilities/. • In the list of drives attached to your Mac, select the USB flash drive device. In our case, it’s called 14.9 GB SanDisk Cruzer Media. (Like lumber, hard drives and flash drives are actually slightly smaller than their specs would have you believe.) • Click the Partition tab. • Select 1 Partition from the Volume Scheme drop-down menu. • Enter a descriptive name for your flash drive; we chose Boot Tools. • Select Mac OS X Extended (Journaled) from the Format drop-down menu. • Click the Options button. • Select GUID Partition Table from the list of available partition schemes. • Click the Apply button. • A sheet will drop down, warning you that you are about to erase all data from the disk. Click Partition. • Disk Utility will format and partition your flash drive. • Quit Disk Utility.
